On Wings

On Wings. A new historical novel about one of the most successful military units in all of human history.

Synopsis: The most effective fighting force the world has known to date was not led by Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, or Napoleon. In all of human history, only one class of warrior has ever gone undefeated for over two hundred years – despite almost continuous engagement and virtually always against overwhelming odds. The horses they rode are widely believed to have been beyond comparison in terms of stamina, courage, and strength and their swords have been described as the finest cutting implements ever used in war. Indeed, the mere sight of these men approaching a battlefield was usually enough to send an enemy fleeing.

This is the story of how the most disciplined and courageous cavalry ever to face combat developed its intimidating assets – a fighting force that actually bore giant wings as they rode into battle and wielded weapons capable of scratching the sky.

‘Scott, as usual, is in excellent form with his trademark style of achieving maximum effect with a minimum of words. On Wings is a rollicking tale that is, arguably, of better calibre than anything penned by Bernard Cornwell or Patrick O’Brien. If you are Polish, puff up your chest with pride. If you’re not, you’ll wish you were.’
Ewa Hancock, The Warsaw Voice

‘A gripping gallop through the social, political, and military landscape of 16th century Poland. This is a very good read. No prior knowledge of Polish history is required to relate to the human emotions, turbulent times and shifting loyalties depicted herein.’
Kit F. Chung, The Warsaw Insider

‘An intelligent adventure story and a stirring tribute that breathes new life into a long-forgotten and little-known chapter of European antiquity. On Wings delivers a pitch-perfect blend of fantasy and fact without the focus on martyrdom that so many writers of Polish history mistakenly pursue.’
Marek Wieruszewski, Radio PiN 102 FM

‘A truly tantalizing novel filled with intrigue, drama, action and humour. In a sizzling journey through mist and time, Scott combines meticulous historical research with myth, fantasy, and the mysterious winged warriors of Poland… A mixture guaranteed to keep readers spellbound.’
Anna Kutor, The New Warsaw Express

‘One of the most enjoyable works to come my way in years. Well written and well researched. The narrative proceeds with an insistent pace that kept me up well after sensible bedtimes. I look forward to further offerings from this emerging talent.’

Jo Offer, Radio Nigeria Network News.

‘A highly original, superbly written, and intelligent page-turner. The brevity and clarity of Mr. Scott’s prose pushes the story along at breathtaking speed and the plot is both well crafted and structured. It’s science fiction so you know he made it up, but it’s also very real.’
Miguel de la Madrid Hurtado, (President of Mexico, 1982-1988)

‘A bonafide page-turner, very well written and refreshingly devoid of the all-too-easy, obvious and formulaic conspiracy theories inherent in so many thrillers these days. Well done! More please!’
Viktoria Ermolaev

‘Detailed research cleverly woven into a modern day thriller. Holds the reader captive until the very end with its creative, allegorical content.’
