Course Syllabus

Course Objectives

This module serves as an introduction to the principles of management. The student will be provided with a core historic view of management embedded in contemporary theory. Successful completion of the course will allow participants to further analyze old and new management approaches and follow the current literature of the field. Specifically, students will learn:

- To examine management theory, techniques, and practices,
- To develop a better understanding of management and organisational behaviour,
- To integrate the knowledge, experiences, and skills of practitioners and academic study,
- To improve the formulation, presentation, and defence of oral argument and opinion,
- To develop practical analytical management skills.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, reading material, case studies, slide presentations, audio-visuals (documentaries).

Assessment

An examination at the end of the course.

Course Hours

Classroom: 20 hours
Self Study: 20-30 hours

i.e.: One to two hours of self study should accompany each hour of classroom instruction.
